Torch Awards Program Overview

Computer Monito

The Torch Awards Program is one of Business Professionals of America’s most prestigious opportunities for student members to showcase their dedication to leadership, service, and personal development. Rooted in the organization’s core values, the program celebrates well-rounded students who actively embody the principles of professionalism and community engagement — both inside and outside of BPA.

Students earn points in seven Torch Categories:

  • Leadership

  • Service

  • Cooperation

  • Knowledge

  • Friendship

  • Love, Hope, Faith

  • Patriotism

Through participation in school, community, and BPA activities, members log their achievements and contributions in an online resume-style format. These points accumulate toward various recognition levels: Executive, Diplomat, Statesman, and the highly esteemed Ambassador Torch Award — the highest honor, recognized at the National Leadership Conference.

The Torch Awards Program isn’t just about logging activities — it’s about becoming a well-rounded, values-driven leader. If you’re ready to grow, lead, and be recognized for the impact you make, the Torch Awards are your path forward.

Why Should Members Participate in Torch?

1. Personal & Professional Growth:
Students who participate in the Torch Awards Program gain hands-on experience in goal-setting, time management, and personal accountability. It helps them reflect on their strengths while building the soft skills that colleges and employers look for.

2. Resume-Building Recognition:
Torch Award recipients are publicly recognized at the regional, state, and national levels. This achievement is a standout addition to college applications, scholarship essays, and resumes.

3. Leadership Through Service:
The program reinforces BPA’s mission of developing leadership through service. Whether volunteering locally, leading chapter events, or participating in civic engagement, students learn what it means to be servant leaders.

4. Motivation to Stay Involved:
Torch activities encourage members to stay active year-round and deepen their involvement in BPA beyond competitive events.
